Description:
This original bronze sculpture by Demetre Chiparus is known as Hindu Dancer (Danseuse Indoue) and dates from the early twentieth century. This cold-painted bronze figurine rests upon its original onyx stone pedestal which is signed by the artist along with the foundry name, Etling Paris. The entire piece measures 22.25 by 9.95 by 8.25 inches (56.5 by 23.5 by 21.0 cm). This bronze was purchased by our client on November 19, 2007, at Rose Hill Auction Gallery of Englewood Nj, where the piece was offered in lot 5265 with an estimate of $17,000-$20,000. This item resides with our client in northern New Jersey and may be seen in person by appointment.
