Hungarian Art Nouveau Framed Female Portrait By Armin Glatter

This striking oil on canvas is by the Benezit-listed Hungarian painter, Armin Glatter (1861-1916). Depicted is a young woman reclined on a sofa, wearing a pretty pink dress, blue headband and heels. She's reading a book but has paused to pose for the artist. Signed " Glatter A " in the lower right corner. Canvas measures 19 x 27 inches. Beautiful Art Nouveau period frame measures 26 x 32.25 inches. Canvas shows a small professional restoration to the background toward the upper right side. Canvas has not been relined and is in good condition. Glatter studied in Munich and Vienna, and exhibited at the Mucsarnok, and is known for his female portraits and other figurative work. He is listed in the Benezit (volume 4, page 303). This painting is in climate-controlled storage in Fort Lee Nj and may be seen in person by appointment.
