Description:
This wonderful oil painting on wooden panel by Albert Munghard (1919-1998) depicts the intersection of 59th Street, Central Park West and Broadway in Manhattan in New York City. Likely painted in the 1950s or 1960s, Depicted is a busy afternoon sometime between 1892 (after the installation of the Columbus Monument by Sicilian sculptor Gaetano Russo) and 1905 when the traffic circle which survives today was constructed. This panel is believed to date from the 1950s to 1970s. The panel measures 12" by 16" and the giltwood frame measures 18.5" by 22.5" by 2.5". This painting resides in our client's gallery on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City and may be seen in person by appointment.
