Description:
This majolica group of three hanging fish is mounted on a dark-stained wicker frame with brass hook, and is believed to date from the 1880s. It was possibly used as a fishmonger's sign. It measures 25.5" wide and 10" tall and is affixed to a dark-stained wicker frame measuring 30" wide and 14" tall. The piece and frame measures 4.5" deep in total. Condition is very good. There is an unglazed area or flak chip from the tail of one fish. This item resides in our client's gallery on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York and may be seen by appointment.
